Yup, this is me smiling at you from the photo on your right. Me = Marjeta, 24 years old, Slovenian. I guess there are two things that describe me best in this very moment: baking and travelling. I'm in love with baking, a true cake-and-cookie lover. Always on the hunt for new mouth-watering recipes and always keen on improving my baking techniques. As for travelling - I spent quite an amount of time living and studying abroad with travelling on a monthly basis. In case you get the idea that applying for EVS is just another opportunity for me to travel, well, you are a bit right. Just a bit. But still, it is so much more than that.
Last November I graduated in geography and as my big plan of moving to China to teach English failed and my dream job was no where near, I started applying for EVS projects. Working on projects within my field of BA degree, getting new experiences that would benefit me when looking for a job, meeting new people and learning a new language ... Seriously, how awesome does this sound? Pretty awesome, right? Right. So, finally, in January I got an email saying I have been chosen for an environment project in Italy. In Italy!!! So, from May 6th I'll be living in Prato, Tuscany. Yes, rolling-hills and cypress-trees Tuscany! I'll be sharing a flat with three other volunteers and ... well, that's more or less all I know at the moment. You might be thinking what kind of a project it is. My sending organisation is Mladinski center Trbovlje (MCT), Slovenia and my host organisation is Legambiente Circolo di Prato. The project will be dealing with environment and rural/urban development issues.I can't wait to go and I'm counting down the days like a small child counting down the days till Christmas.
